I recently had an opportunity to listen to a webinar from one of the most respected and well known firearms instructors in the world. The webinar was about developing your firearms training business and I was curious to see what insight I could gain by listening to someone that has had immense success.

Of all the advice and tips that were given, the one thing that stood out to me most was being able to differentiate yourself and deliver something better than others doing the same or similar things. There are a lot of people and organizations out there that provide similar goods or services. There has to be something about a person, company or product that makes it the one you choose. They have to offer better service or new information/benefits than what is or has been available.
When it comes to an organization that provides training, the instructors themselves must be learning and growing all the time. This must be done to ensure that their students are always receiving the best and most accurate information. Learning needs to be the keystone of any good training or educational organization. Not just for the students, the teachers too. If your doctor never trained or learned anything new after college, how likely would it be that you would go to them when you need something taken care of. We all want the best and most recent version of what's available. This is why there is a new iPhone every year.
There are a lot of people out there that will tout their experience as a means to justify their validity and ability to teach. There is definitely value in that experience and it should not be taken for granted. But you have to ask these questions to be sure that you are getting what you want.
1. Does their experience transfer to what I want to learn?
2. How long ago were they trained and is that training still acceptable for today's standards?
3. Have they learned anything new that changed their mind about something?
4. Do they offer progressive training to help me grow and learn more?
5. Are they willing and available to spend time with you one on one?
6. Do they have a presence outside the classroom that provides updated insight or knowledge?
7. What do past students say about what they learned?
At MAGS Training we strive to use only the best techniques, tools, and most accurate information there is to ensure our students receive the quality learning they deserve.
We are not just here to help you get your carry permit and send you on your way. In every class you will hear me say, "I can't stress enough, get more training, however you can. This is just the beginning."
We want to provide the opportunity for you to keep getting better.
